When business is as slow as it has been, it is also a great time to get the most for your trade. Even if you money on it, this is a good time to try to get a dealer to step up and put a high trade value on your vehicle. Don't be fooled by the "trade allowance" figure. That is not the figure you want. The figure you want from the dealer is the ACV, or "actual cash value" of your trade in. The "trade allowance" figure is often a number that is very high but, when you're looking for a discount are the new or used car your purchasing, you're getting nothing or close to nothing off of the selling price. DON'T FALL FOR THAT! Have your trade appraised FIRST and then negotiate the price of the car or truck you're buying.
